A trial train ran on Bangabandhu Railway Bridge, the largest railway bridge in the country built over the Jamuna River, on Tuesday.
At around 10:15 am, the train left the eastern bank of the Bhuapur section of Tangail and went to the western part of Sirajganj.
However, earlier on Monday afternoon, the train ran on a test run on the broad gauge line from both ends of the bridge.
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Railway Bridge Project Director Al Fattah Masudur Rahman said, `Trains are running on the 4.8-kilometer-long Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Railway Bridge on a trial basis today. The bridge is fully completed. It will be officially inaugurated in mid-January.`
