(BSS) - Opener Shadman Islam hit a half-century as Bangladesh reached 69-2 on Day 1 of the second and final Test against West Indies at Sabina Park in Jamaica today.
The day was cut short due to a wet outfield and saw the action for only 30 overs.
Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first. They had made only one change in the squad from the previous Test, bringing in pacer Nahid Rana in place of Shoriful Islam.
As has been the case, Bangladesh made a poor start, losing opener Mahmudul Islam Joy for just 3. Soon after his dismissal, Mominul Haque fell for duck to leave Bangladesh at 10-2 in the seventh over. Fast bowler Kemar Roach took both of the wickets.
However, Shadman survived some close calls before reaching his fifty.
He was batting on exact 50 with Shahadat Hossain Dipu on 12 at stumps.
Bangladesh trail by 1-0 in the series following 201-run defeat in the first Test.
