Taking part in the dialogue with Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus on Wednesday afternoon, leaders of all political parties of the country unanimously asserted that there is no reason to think Bangladesh as a weak and subservient nation.
The mainstream political parties reached consensus that they would work together on the questions of independence, sovereignty, existence and dignity of Bangladesh at any cost.
The political party leaders made the pledge taking part in the two-hour long dialogue with the Chief Adviser at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka on Wednesday (December 4) afternoon.
Leaders of all major political parties including BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh took part in the dialogue. However, no leaders from the ousted Awami League and its associate parties were not present at the dialogue.
Following the dialogue, Law Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul briefed journalists at about 6:45pm.
He said the issues like India`s propaganda and aggression were surfaced in the dialogue. The political leaders asserted that they would not compromise on the question of country`s independence and sovereignty.
"We reached a national consensus on the issue of the country`s independence, sovereignty, existence and our dignity. We will remain united against any kinds of propaganda and provocation," he said while talking to reporters.
Asif Nazrul said all were united on the issue of the country`s sovereignty, and there is no room to treat the country as subservient.
"We will remain firm against any kind of propaganda and provocation by New Delhi. We will deal with all kind of provocation against Bangladesh in future," he said.
