Newly designed banknotes, containing graffiti of the July Revolution instead of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman`s image, will be circulated in the market by June 2025.

These notes will also feature the country`s history, tradition, and historical structures. New banknotes are being designed with these images.

But, the notes with Sheikh Mujibur Rahman`s image will also remain in the market.

The design of four types of notes--20, 100, 500 and 1000 Tk--will be changed. Other banknotes will be changed in phases. There will be no image of Mujib in the new notes.

Currency and Design Advisory Committee of Bangladesh Bank will recommend for circulation of notes. Senior deputy governor of the central bank is the president of the committee.

Earlier, the finance ministry requested the Bangladesh Bank new designs for all denominations of banknotes.
