  21, December, 2024, 5:08:39:PM

Renowned Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has arrived in Dhaka to headline the "Echoes of Revolution" concert, set to take place tonight at the Army Stadium.

Known for his iconic tracks such as "Afreen Afreen," "O Re Piya," and "Jiya Dhadak Dhadak," Rahat will perform at the event, which aims to support the victims and families affected by the July Uprising.

The singer landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at midnight and is staying at a five-star hotel in Dhaka. A group of Dhaka University students welcomed him with flowers upon his arrival.

Organized by the Spirits of July platform, the concert features not only Rahat Fateh Ali Khan but also performances from celebrated local bands and artists, including Artcell, Chirkutt, Aftermath, members of Silsila, and rappers Shezan and Hannan, known for their contributions during the July Uprising.

Rahat`s performance at the event is especially significant as he will sing without any remuneration, contributing to the cause. The proceeds from ticket sales will go to the Shaheed July Smriti Foundation, which supports those injured and the families of those killed during the uprising.

To ensure accessibility and community support, several arrangements have been made such as toll-free access to the Dhaka Elevated Expressway on the day of the concert, exemption from value-added tax (VAT) and supplementary duties, as approved by the National Board of Revenue (NBR), waiving of venue rent by the Bangladesh Army for the Army Stadium, and subsidized tickets for students.

In addition to the musical performances, the event will include a graffiti exhibition depicting themes of the July Revolution, a stage play, and a commemorative water zone in honor of July Martyr Mir Mugdho.

Tickets were sold in three categories: `VIP` (Tk 10,000), `Front Row` (Tk 4,500), and `General` (Tk 2,500), with discounted prices available for students in all categories.

All proceeds from the concert ticket sales will be donated to the Shaheed July Smriti Foundation to help those injured and killed in the July Uprising.
