A Marine court has issued arrest warrant against 19 Bangladeshi sailors who are absconding with Continuous Discharge Certificates (CDC) from sea-going vessels, according to a notice Department of Shipping.
The notice, signed by Commodore Mohammad Maksud Alam, director general of Department of Shipping (DoS), issued on Thursday and urged the public to provide any information about the missing mariners to the nearest police stations or the DoS office in Dhaka.
It has also disclosed the names of the sailors for whom the arrest warrants have been issued.
The 19 sailors are-- Md Sohanur Rahman, Md Ariful Islam, Abu Sufian, Mostafa Kamal, Iskandar Miji, Md Sanaullah, Md Anwaruzzaman, Md Abdul Quddus, Aminul Islam, Opi Hossain, Md Rafiqul Islam, Md Mizanur Rahman, Md Sheikh Alam, Md Mehedi Hasan, Md Al Amin, Md Imam Hossain, Enamul Haque, Md Imrul Hossain and Mohammad Ibrahim.
According to the notice, the mariners fled from 13 different ships, including three Bangladeshi-flagged vessels -- MV Meghna Adventure, MV Meghna Princess, and MV Meghna Crown -- all owned by Meghna Group of Industries.
