| A child was killed in a road accident at Sakhipur upazila in Shariatpur district on Monday.
The accident took place at Char Mahishkhali village of Arshinagar union in the upazila.
The deceased, Shoaiba, 6, was daughter of Alhaj Sardar of the same village.
According to witnesses and police sources, Shoaiba was playing on the side of the road in front of her house when a speeding auto-rickshaw ran over her and flee away. She was taken to the Bhedarganj Upazila Health Complex in critical condition, where the on-duty doctor declared her dead.
Sakhipur Police Station officer-in-charge Obaidul Haque said that if anyone files a written complaint in this incident, legal action will be taken after investigation.
