Online Report : Former ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari denied bail by a Chittagong court on Thursday.
Chittagong Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Saiful Islam rejected the bail petition after hearing arguments from both sides, said Public Prosecutor Advocate Mofizul Haque Bhuiyan.
The hearing was held for 30 minutes amid tight security.
Apurba Kumar Bhattacharjee, Chinmoy`s lawyer, said, "The court rejected the bail in a sedition a case after hearing all. We will appeal to the top court."
Chinmoy Krishna was not brought before the court today.
On October 31, 2024, a BNP leader filed a case against Chinmoy, also the spokesperson for Sammilita Sanatani Jagaran Jote, and 18 others for allegedly disrespecting the country’s national flag during a Hindu community rally in New Market area of the port city on October 25.
Detectives arrested Chinmoy near Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on November 25, 2024, in this connection. The next day, Chinmoy was produced before a Chattogram court and the court denied his bail plea and sent him to jail.
