Three killed in separate road crashes in Thakurgaon

At least three people were killed in separate road accidents in Pirganj and Sadar upazila of Thakurgaon.

The accidents occurred on Friday night and on Saturday morning.

In Sadar upazila, a man named Mamunur Rashid, 35, was injured when a Gorea-bound pickup crashed his motorcycle from behind at Manabkalyanpara in Sadar upazila around 11:30AM on Friday.

He was taken to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital where doctors declared him dead, said Md Shahidur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.

In Pirganj, Tojammin Shahnaj Rebu, 48, an assistant teacher at a local government primary school died on the spot and Moktarul Islam, 65, was injured when a minibus hit a battery-run rickshaw carrying them near Pirganj intersection around 8:30AM.

Tajul Islam, OC of Pirganj Police Station, said a 65-year-old man sustained injuries after a motorbike hit him while he was crossing a road at Jamtoli in Pirganj municipality area on Friday night.

He succumbed to his injuries at Dinajpur Medical College Hospital on the same night, said the OC.
