People will be disappointed if state-sponsored party formed: Tarique Rahman
  25, January, 2025, 10:28:20:PM

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has raised concerns over the potential formation of a new political party under the patronage of the current government, warning that such an action would lead to widespread disappointment among the people of Bangladesh.

He said: “BNP welcomes the formation of a new political party, but the countrymen will be disappointed if it is formed under the patronisation of the government and its administration.”

Tarique Rahman was speaking at a programme held at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh, on Saturday.

Addressing the event virtually from London, Tarique commemorated National Teachers’ Day and emphasized the need for constructive political approaches. “It will be unwanted for the people if attitudes or verbal statements of any political party seem quarrelsome and vindictive,” he remarked, highlighting the importance of maintaining peaceful and cooperative political discourse.

Tarique also expressed optimism about the future of the country`s youth. “The youth will march forward on a transparent path, steering clear of questionable ones,” he said, encouraging young people to pursue a future grounded in integrity and transparency.

In a further elaboration of the BNP’s stance, Tarique reaffirmed his party`s support for both political reforms and the holding of fair elections. "We support both reforms and elections simultaneously," he asserted, emphasizing the need for a balanced approach to governance and political engagement.
