The price of gold has been slightly reduced in the country`s market in the span of four days.
The price of 22-carat gold, the highest quality (1 bhori = 11.664 grams), has been decreased by Tk 2,403, bringing it to Tk 150,967 per bhori.
This price reduction followed the decline in the price of refined gold in the local market. The new price will be effective starting from Friday, February 28th, as announced by the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS). Earlier, on February 24, the price of gold was reduced. On February 24, the price of a good quality bhori was reduced by Tk 1,155. That is, the price of good quality gold per bhori decreased by Tk 3,558 in two phases.
Before this price reduction, the price of gold was increased on February 2, 6, 11, 18 and 21 and on January 16, 23 and 30. That is, after 8 phases of increase, now the price of gold has been reduced in the domestic market in two phases.
The decision to reduce prices was taken by the BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring Committee at a meeting on Thursday (February 23). This information was later given in a notification signed by the committee`s chairman, Masudur Rahman.
