Joint force in a drive arrested an alleged smuggler with 2,500 pieces of yaba tablets from Charbhanga area under Haimchar upazila in Chandpur district on Wednesday night.

The arrested man is Md. Barek Khan, 35, son of Lokman Khan, a resident of Khan Bari area of the upazila.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of the joint force conducted a drive in the area and arrested Barek with the yaba tablets, said Lieutenant Jabid Hasan, operational officer of Chandpur Army Camp Thursday morning.

He has been handed over to the police for further legal action.
