Three people were killed and one was critically injured after a truck smashed an autorickshaw in Gazipur`s Kaliakoir upazila on Saturday morning.

One of the deceased was identified as the CNG-run autorickshaw driver Obaidul.

Police said quoting the residents of the area, an autorickshaw was heading towards Kaliakoir from Maona Chourasta of Sreepur. When the vehicle reached Namashulai area of the Kaliakoir-Maona regional road at about 8AM, a brick-laden truck from opposite dirrection hit the autorickshaw and it got twisted.

The autorickshaw driver and twop others died on the scene and one injured critically.

The injured was admitted to Upazila Health Complex.

Kaliakoir Police Station SI Kamrul Hasan said, "We are trying to identified the deceased and legal steps would be taken in this connection."
