Police have arrested two people for their suspected involvement in gang-rape of an SSC examinee at Chandina upazila in Cumilla district.

The arrested men are Md Shoyeb and Ratan Chandra Sarkar of the upazila.

The victim filed a case against two identified and four unidentified people on Friday with Chandina Police Station, said Jabed-ul-Islam, officer in-charge of the police station.

According to the case statement, the victim went to Koilan Bazar to meet her friend on March 19. After meeting, when the girl hired an autorickshaw to go to her village in the evening, a group of young men, numbering 4-5, intercepted the autorickshaw. They then took the girl to a machine room inside the cropland where they violated the girl by turns.

The following day, the girl again went to the Koilan Bazar and identified the two rapists. She then informed the matter to the local people who handed them over to the police.

Police are trying to arrest the others involved in the rape, said the OC.
