  12, April, 2025, 7:54:30:PM

(BSS) - Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal- Bangladesh JaSad today submitted its opinions on reform proposals to the National Consensus Commission.

The party led by its general secretary Nazmul Haque Prodhan submitted its opinions to the National Consensus Commission`s Vice-Chairman Professor Ali Riaz at the Jatiya Sangsad Complex.

Commission members Safar Raj Hossain, Justice Emdadul Haque, Dr Iftekharuzzaman, Dr Badiul Alam Majumder and Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant Monir Haider, among others, were present at that time.

Besides, Bangladesh JaSad leaders Indu Nanda Datta, Dr Mushtaq Hossain and ATM Mahabbat Ali, among others, were also present at the event.

Speaking at the discussion, Professor Ali Riaz said although the initiative for reform has come from the interim government, the demand itself belongs to the people.

He said the commission aims to complete the first round of talks with political parties by mid-May, after which the second round will begin.

The National Consensus Commission, headed by Interim Government Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus, was formed with the goal of forging national consensus on reforms. The commission officially began its activities on February 15.

The commission identified the crucial recommendations made in the reports of five reform commissions – the constitution reform commission, the public administration reform commission, the electoral system reform commission, the judiciary reform commission and the ACC reform commission – to seek opinions from the political parties.

Later, the commission sent a set of recommendations in a spreadsheet format to 38 political parties asking them to send their specific opinions on the important reform recommendations by March 13.

With this party, a total of 32 political parties submitted their respective opinions to the Consensus Commission.

The National Consensus Commission began formal dialogue on March 20 to finalize the recommendations made by the reform commissions.
