Over 22,000 Bangladeshi Pilgrims Reach Saudi Arabia, Another Death Reported

A total of 22,203 pilgrims from Bangladesh have reached Saudi Arabia in 54 flights so far this season. Among them, 4,564 pilgrims traveled under government management, and 17,539 under private management.

This information was provided in the latest Hajj-related bulletin on Sunday (May 4th). The bulletin contains the data on pilgrims who arrived in Saudi Arabia up to 2:59 AM on Saturday night.

According to the Hajj-related help desk, Biman Bangladesh Airlines operated 22 of the 54 flights, Saudi Airlines operated 17, and Flynas Airlines operated 15 flights.

Additionally, two Bangladeshi pilgrims have died so far this year while performing Hajj. The latest death occurred on May 2nd, when Fariduzzaman (57) from Bajitpur, Kishoreganj, passed away due to natural causes, according to the Hajj help desk. Prior to this, Khalilur Rahman (70) passed away in Madinah on the evening of April 29th, local time.

The formal journey for this year`s Hajj began on April 29th. On this day, the first dedicated flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying 398 pilgrims departed for Saudi Arabia.

The Hajj flights this year will conclude on May 31st. A total of 5,200 pilgrims will travel under government management and 81,900 under private management this year.

Subject to the sighting of the moon in Saudi Arabia, the holy Hajj is expected to be on June 5th. The first return flight for pilgrims is scheduled for June 10th, and the last return flight is on July 10th.
