A case has been filed with Bason Police Station under Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) in connection with the recent attack on Hasnat Abdullah, the Chief Organizer (Southern region) of the National Citizen Party (NCP).
The case, filed by NCP’s Gazipur Metropolitan representative Khandaker Al-Amin, names around 100 individuals and includes several unnamed suspects. Since the incident, police have arrested at least 54 people—all reportedly affiliated with the ruling Awami League and its associated organizations.
According to GMP sources, the arrests were made based on initial investigations, and efforts are ongoing to detain others involved. GMP Additional Commissioner (Administration) Zahid Hasan confirmed the filing of the case, noting that it was registered after carefully verifying all information.
Hasnat Abdullah was seriously injured in the attack, which took place last evening while he was en route to Dhaka from Gazipur. His vehicle was reportedly vandalized, and he sustained significant injuries during the assault.
Police have launched a special operation to apprehend the remaining perpetrators and bring them to justice.
