Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and local residents have taken up positions along the Ryamari border in Kurigram after the Border Security Force (BSF) of India fired four rounds of bullets following an alleged "push-in" incident.

The incident occurred early Tuesday morning (May 27) in the Baraibari border area of Ryamari Sadar Union in Kurigram. Company Commander Subedar Anju Mia of Baraibari Camp confirmed the incident.

Details of the Incident
Local residents reported that BSF personnel from the Kakripara Camp, under Mankachar Police Station in India`s Assam state, illegally pushed 14 Indian nationals (men and women) into Bangladesh`s Baraibari border area near international main pillar 1067/1 sub-area on Tuesday. When BGB members escorted these Indian nationals to the zero line of the border, BSF reportedly verbally abused them and fired four rounds of bullets.

Following this, BGB took up positions at the zero line. As news of the incident spread, residents from Baraibari and surrounding villages rushed to the area and also took positions at the zero line alongside the BGB.

Subedar Anju Mia stated, "Early this morning, India`s BSF illegally opened the barbed wire gate and pushed 14 Indian citizens into Bangladesh." He added, "Later, when BGB patrol members took those citizens to the zero line, BSF verbally abused and fired shots. Numerous BSF personnel have taken up positions on the road across the border."
