(BSS)-Former Bangladesh captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto has reached the milestone of 50th ODI as the 32nd ODI cricketer for the country.
His feat came in the first match of the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo today.
Shanto made his ODI debut against Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi in September 2018. He so far scored 1,565 runs in 48 innings of 49 matches at an average of 34.77 with three centuries and 10 half-centuries.
The left-handed batter has scored centuries against Ireland, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka in his ODI career.
He career-best 122 not out came against Sri Lanka in Chattogram in March 2024 as Bangladesh won the match by six wickets.
Before Shanto, 31 cricketers had played 50 or more ODIs for Bangladesh. Mushfiqur Rahim has played 274 ODIs, which is the highest for Bangladesh as of now. The wicketkeeper-batter, however, retired from ODIs after the last ICC Champions Trophy.
