Government is taking multi-faceted initiatives for the welfare of farmers : Jahangir Alam
  28, August, 2025, 1:14:59:AM

Kamrul Hasan : Agriculture and Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said that the government is taking multi-faceted initiatives for the welfare of farmers. As a part of this, farmers` mini cold storage will be set up step by step across the country. In this, farmers will be able to store their produced vegetables, fruits and agricultural products for a long time. As a result, they will get a fair price and the risk of losses will also be reduced to a large extent.

He said these things while inaugurating the Farmers` Mini Cold Storage in Medulia village of Singair upazila of Manikganj on Wednesday (August 27) afternoon.
He said, “In our country, at different times, many people take government benefits, but farmers are deprived of the real benefits. Therefore, on the instructions of the interim government, this mini cold storage project has been taken up in the interest of farmers. Today, its journey started from Manikganj, and farmers from all over the country will gradually enjoy its benefits.”
He also said that the Ministry of Agriculture has taken up the ‘Farmers’ Income Increase Project through Expansion of Affordable Cold Storage Technology’ to modernize and protect agriculture to combat the risks of climate change. Under this project, funded by the Climate Change Trust Fund, mini cold storages will be set up step by step across the country through farmer associations and organizations.
The Agriculture and Home Affairs Advisor formally inaugurated the program by handing over the key of the mini cold storage to the Medulia Integrated Farmers’ Development Association.
At that time, senior officials of the local administration including Deputy Commissioner Dr. Manowar Hossain Mollah, officials of the Department of Agricultural Extension, farmer representatives and people from different classes and professions were present.
