After nearly a decade, popular actor Mahiya Mahi is returning to Jaaz Multimedia, the production house that launched her career. Despite years of speculation about her comeback, the official announcement has now been made. Mahi will star in Ontorjami, directed by Saikat Nasir.
The news was confirmed by Abdul Aziz, head of Jaaz Multimedia, who revealed that Mahi will return in a female-led action film. The story revolves around Mahi and a nine-year-old child, with no male lead.
“Ontorjami picks up where Agnee 2 ended,” Aziz said. “It’s a survival story centred on Mahi and the child, featuring action sequences even more intense than Agnee. Filming will begin in the US early next year and we plan to release the film within the same year.”
He added that discussions with Mahi took place last month and that the team plans to reintroduce her in a fresh, dynamic way.
According to production sources, shooting for Ontorjami will start in February 2026 in the US, followed by schedules in Thailand and Bangladesh. The film’s action sequences will be choreographed by Baba Yadav from Kolkata.
Mahi made her silver-screen debut with Jaaz Multimedia’s ‘Bhalobashar Rong’ in 2012, later starring in several of the company’s biggest hits, including ‘Agnee’, ‘Agnee 2’ and ‘Romeo vs Juliet’.
