International Desk: Recently, China Media Group (CMG), in collaboration with the China Electronics and Information Industry Development Research Institute under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, along with several other institutions, released the Top Ten Trends in Artificial Intelligence for 2026.

First, the globalization of AI governance. Inclusive and shared benefits of artificial intelligence are becoming a core component of the global development agenda.

Second, scalable intelligent computing power. The supply capacity of key industrial components is expected to strengthen significantly, providing robust support for AI development.

Third, the rise of mainstream applications. AI innovations are rapidly transitioning from laboratories to real-world productivity, accelerating industrial transformation.

Fourth, diversified practical applications. Core AI technologies are evolving from “specialized tools” into “ubiquitous intelligent partners,” integrating seamlessly across sectors.

Fifth, the popularization of domestically developed AI terminal hardware. A new generation of smart terminals will increasingly integrate immersive user experiences into everyday scenarios.

Sixth, embodied artificial intelligence. By 2026, intelligent robots are expected to introduce breakthrough products in manufacturing, warehousing, and household services. Through deep interaction with the physical world, large-scale pilot applications are anticipated.

Seventh, deeper and more specialized professional domains. The integration of “AI plus science” is generating unexpected breakthroughs in fundamental scientific research.

Eighth, cross-boundary integration in cutting-edge fields. Brain-inspired intelligence and interdisciplinary research are accelerating innovation and expanding technological frontiers.

Ninth, the growing prominence of energy challenges. As computational demands rise, Green AI—focused on energy efficiency and sustainability—is drawing increasing attention.

Tenth, intensifying security and risk concerns. Safety and governance will become essential safeguards for AI development. While encouraging technological innovation, governance frameworks addressing AI ethics, privacy protection, and security—along with supporting technical tools—will be simultaneously strengthened and refined to ensure the healthy and orderly development of the AI industry.
