  22, January, 2026, 12:31:6:AM

International Desk: Agriculture remains one of the principal pillars of Pakistan’s economy, possessing vast potential for growth and transformation. By harnessing China’s advanced technology and rich experience, Pakistan can significantly accelerate the development of its agricultural sector, with immense prospects for enhanced Pakistan–China cooperation.

These remarks were made by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif while addressing the Pakistan–China Agricultural Investment Conference 2026, recently held in Islamabad.

The Prime Minister stated that Pakistan is firmly committed to increasing agricultural productivity through the adoption of modern technologies. He highlighted the country’s progress in several key areas, including efficient water management, modern farming practices, and cold-chain transportation systems.

Shehbaz Sharif praised China’s remarkable achievements in agricultural technology, information technology, and artificial intelligence. He called upon Pakistani farmers, agricultural institutions, and young professionals to work alongside Chinese experts to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of Pakistan’s agricultural economy.

Speaking on the occasion, Jiang Zaidong, the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, commended Pakistan’s stability and the recovery of its macroeconomic framework. He noted that despite global and domestic pressures, the economies of both countries are moving in a positive direction. This momentum, he said, is creating new opportunities and injecting fresh impetus into pragmatic bilateral cooperation.

The Chinese Ambassador further expressed China’s desire to deepen coordination with Pakistan on development strategies and to elevate bilateral relations to a new height on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan.
