Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju has emphasized the need to complete key development work before the upcoming monsoon season to ensure a clean and waterlogging-free city.

He visited several areas of Daulatpur, including Daulatpur Bazaar, to inspect the drainage and water discharge systems of canals and drains on Sunday.

The visits are part of efforts to develop an effective plan to prevent waterlogging during the rainy season.

Speaking to journalists and local residents after the inspection, Manju said several important tasks must be completed before the monsoon.

He stressed that, alongside improving the drainage system, market management and sanitation facilities also need to be modernized.

He added that, in consultation with market management committees, steps will be taken to resolve existing problems, including renovating current markets and constructing new ones. These projects will be included in the upcoming budget, he said.

During the visit, the KCC administrator inspected drainage conditions at Daulatpur Bazaar and nearby river areas, wholesale vegetable market, Pabla Karikar Para drain, drains adjacent to BGB office and Khude canal.

He also urged small traders to keep sidewalks free from encroachment to ensure smooth movement for pedestrians.

Among others present during the inspection were KCC Chief Engineer Mashiuzzaman Khan, Executive Engineer Mohammad Anichuzzaman, Conservancy Officer Engineer Md. Anisur Rahman, Estate Officer Gazi Salauddin, Market Officer Sheikh Shafiqul Hasan Didar and local community representatives, including leaders of Daulatpur Bazaar management committee.
