Civil Aviation Minister Inaugurates “Road to Makkah” Initiative, A New Dimension in Hajj Passenger Services
  18, April, 2026, 8:16:35:AM

Kamrul Hasan: As part of the government’s initiative to make Hajj management easier, faster, and more seamless, the official inauguration of the “Road to Makkah” program was held.

On Friday (April 17) at 9:00 PM, the special initiative for Hajj pilgrims was formally inaugurated by the Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism, Afroza Khanam Rita, MP.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by State Minister Md Rashiduzzaman Millat, MP, and the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Bangladesh, H.E. Dr. Abdullah ibn Dhafer ibn Ubayya, as special guests.

Following the inauguration, the Minister and State Minister exchanged greetings with the Hajj pilgrims and presented them with floral goodwill gestures. They also prayed for the safe and successful completion of the pilgrims’ journey.

The pilgrims present expressed satisfaction with the government’s initiative, appreciating the smoother and faster immigration process, which significantly reduces travel-related hassles.

The “Road to Makkah” initiative is a flagship program of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Under this arrangement, pilgrims can complete immigration, passport verification, and health checks in their home country before departure. As a result, they do not have to wait in long immigration queues upon arrival in Saudi Arabia.

According to analysts, this initiative represents a significant milestone in technology-driven modernization of Hajj management. For Bangladesh, which sends a large number of pilgrims every year, it is expected to save both time and reduce travel difficulties.

The government views the inauguration of this initiative ahead of the Hajj flight season as a major advancement in Hajj management.

Stakeholders believe that further coordination in airport management, security, and passenger services will make the Hajj journey even more organized and humane.

Overall, experts say the “Road to Makkah” initiative marks another step forward in strengthening Bangladesh–Saudi Arabia Hajj cooperation.
