International: Chinese President Xi Jinping held official talks with visiting Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Tuesday morning, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and expanding strategic cooperation.

During the meeting, President Xi said that China and Myanmar share a longstanding friendship. Over the past 76 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two countries have consistently supported each other and adhered to the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, creating a model of equality, mutual benefit, and win-win cooperation.

Xi stressed that China attaches great importance to its relations with Myanmar and firmly supports the country`s efforts to safeguard its sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also voiced support for Myanmar`s new government in coordinating development and security priorities and pursuing a development path suited to its national conditions and supported by its people.

Noting that this year marks the beginning of China`s 15th Five-Year Plan period, Xi said Beijing is willing to share its development experience with Myanmar. He added that China is committed to advancing the building of a China-Myanmar community with a shared future, improving the well-being of both peoples, and contributing further to regional peace and development.

President Xi described China as Myanmar`s reliable and trustworthy friend and partner. In the face of a complex and evolving international landscape, he said both countries should enhance strategic coordination and maintain close unity.

He noted that the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor is a flagship project under Belt and Road cooperation and called for the steady advancement of key infrastructure projects while ensuring security.

Xi also pledged to increase China`s support for Myanmar`s post-earthquake reconstruction efforts. He urged continued cooperation between the two countries in combating online gambling, telecommunications fraud, drug trafficking, and other cross-border crimes to better safeguard the interests and security of their peoples.

Following the talks, the two leaders witnessed the signing of several cooperation agreements covering areas including public welfare and other sectors.

Earlier, President Xi hosted an official welcoming ceremony for President Min Aung Hlaing in the North Hall of the Great Hall of the People.
