| International: "May every family prosper, may the people flourish, and may good fortune, wealth and happiness abound."
During an inspection tour of Xiyujia Village in Shandong Province on June 24, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, paused to read a traditional Spring Festival couplet displayed on the doorway of a village home. The Chinese inscription expressed wishes for prosperity, happiness and good fortune.
Xi said the words reflected "the people`s aspirations for a better life."
Addressing local residents, Xi noted that over the past 105 years, the CPC has led the Chinese people in achieving remarkable accomplishments through collective effort and perseverance.
He said China is now advancing on a new journey toward building a modern socialist country in all respects, calling on the nation to remain united, continue striving for new achievements, and work together to fulfil the people`s aspirations for an even better future.
Xi stressed that the CPC was born from the people and exists to serve the people. He said the Party has grown through the support of the people, stood with them through difficult times, and continued to advance alongside them.
Reflecting on the Party`s history, Xi said the CPC has always relied on the people to accomplish its goals and will continue to do so in pursuing new historic achievements.
Advancing Public Well-Being
Xi also reiterated the importance of remaining faithful to the CPC`s founding mission.
At the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in October 2017, Xi called on Party members to "stay true to the original aspiration, keep the mission firmly in mind, and continue striving."
According to Xi, the CPC`s original aspiration and mission are to seek happiness for the Chinese people and rejuvenation for the Chinese nation. Since its founding, he said, the Party has placed the people at the heart of its values and development philosophy.
Xi emphasized that the Party must never lose sight of its founding mission or its commitment to serving the people.
"The people are the foundation upon which the Party stands," he said, adding that the Chinese Dream, the vision of national rejuvenation and the goal of building a strong and prosperous country all ultimately centre on improving people`s lives.
"Everything the CPC has done, and everything it will continue to do, is aimed at pursuing the well-being of the people," Xi said.
Improving People`s Lives
Xi said that in the new era, the CPC Central Committee, with him at its core, has continued to respond to the people`s growing expectations for a better quality of life by placing public well-being at the forefront of national development.
He highlighted sustained efforts to promote common prosperity and comprehensive human development through policies focused on employment, education, healthcare, childcare, elderly care, housing and environmental protection. These areas, he said, have become central priorities in China`s national development agenda, contributing to continuous improvements in people`s living standards and quality of life.
"Our goal is to meet the people`s aspirations for a better life," Xi said.
He added that by keeping the people at the centre of governance, caring for their needs and working to improve their well-being, CPC members in the new era are translating the Party`s commitment into practical action and demonstrating their enduring dedication to serving the people.
