PM urges all to work to build Bangladesh as envisioned by July martyrs
  10, August, 2026, 10:52:0:PM

(BSS)- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today urged the countrymen to work together to build the Bangladesh envisioned by the martyrs of the July Mass Uprising, saying their sacrifices must be honoured by turning their dreams into reality.

“Those people who sacrificed their lives for the country in 1971 and 2024 wanted to establish people’s rights. They fought to build a Bangladesh where people’s basic needs would be met and everyone could live in peace,” he said.

The Prime Minister was addressing a programme organised at the cabinet meeting room in the Secretariat this afternoon to honour the families of Bangladesh Scouts members who were martyred during the July Mass Uprising and provide them with financial assistance, said PM`s Deputy Press Secretary Suzauddawla Sujan Mahmud.

Tarique Rahman said the martyrs have laid their lives while fighting for a noble cause, and ensuring due respect for their sacrifice requires more than simply remembering them.

“To ensure the proper dignity of their sacrifice, it is not enough just to remember them; each of us who are alive must work for the country from our respective positions,” he said.

Urging the scouts to work for the country the Prime Minister said, “We have to develop the mentality of standing beside people and nature. Alongside working for the welfare of the people, we have to inspire others to do the same,” he added.

The Prime Minister handed over cheques of financial assistance and honourary medals to the families of 10 Bangladesh Scouts members who were martyred during the July Mass Uprising.

Bangladesh Scouts President Nasimul Gani urged the government to include the contributions and sacrifices of those martyred in the July Mass Uprising in the national curriculum so that their role could be conveyed to the new generation.

Education Minister A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon, State Minister Bobby Hajjaj, Prime Minister’s Adviser on Education, Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment and Labour and Employment Dr Mahdi Amin, and family members of the July martyrs were present.
