Make digital attendance, CCTV cameras mandatory in educational institutions: Dulu
  11, September, 2026, 9:57:42:PM

(BSS) - Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu has called for making digital attendance systems and CCTV cameras mandatory in all educational institutions to restore educational environment, discipline and regular attendance.

"No educational institution may close before 4 pm and teachers must remain present at their respective educational institutions until the designated time to ensure the attendance of the students," he said.

He made these remarks while addressing a meeting as the chief guest at the Church of God Mission campus in Lalmonirhat district town on Friday afternoon, a PID press release said here tonight.

The meeting, aimed at improving the quality of education, was attended by officers from the district education office, heads and teachers of different schools, madrasas, technical institutes, and colleges from Sadar upazila of Lalmonirhat.

Regarding the dignity of teachers, the Minister said there is no reason for them to fear protesting to uphold their self-respect, as they have the backing of a strong administration.

"Strict legal action will be taken against anyone attempting to commit wrongdoing. While there may be demands and discussions, the act of locking up a teacher will not be tolerated," he said.

The Minister mentioned that often, upon visiting educational institutions in the afternoon, students are found to be absent. When the reason for their absence is sought, the explanation given is the lack of teachers.

"How can students be expected to remain at the institution if the teachers are not there?" he asked.

He urged that, to foster moral and social values among students, a two-to-three-minute talk against social injustices and crimes be delivered daily before classes begin.

He emphasized the need to raise student awareness regarding dowry, child marriage, drug abuse, corruption, and violence against women.

The Minister stated that students and guardians must be informed well in advance that failure to pass the pre-board test (selection) examination will result in being barred from filling out the final examination forms.

At the same time, students must be provided with education regarding principles and ethics, alongside religious values.

Referring to the "Alokita Lalmonirhat" (Enlightened Lalmonirhat) movement, he noted that teacher attendance in educational institutions has increased within just a few months of the initiative`s launch."

All educational institutions must work in a coordinated manner to implement such activities.

Calling for the creation of social resistance against corruption, the Minister said a mindset of saying "no" to injustice must be cultivated, and change must be initiated through continuous awareness-building.

Lalmonirhat Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Rashedul Haque Prodhan, District Council Administrator AKM Mominul Haque, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mononita Das, District Education Officer Rukhsana Parvin and District BNP Joint General Secretary ABM Faruk Siddique spoke at the event.

The Minister also distributed publicity materials for the `Alokita Lalmonirhat` awareness campaign among all secondary and higher secondary level educational institutions in Lalmonirhat Sadar upazila.
