| (BSS) - A decision has been taken to improve the quality of services and modernise the Parliament Medical Centre at Jatiya Sangsad (JS).
The decision was made at the first meeting of the committee on improving service quality, consultation and supervision of the National Parliament Secretariat Medical Centre, held today.
The meeting was chaired by committee chairman and Whip Miah Nuruddin Ahmad Apu.
Committee members Whip Md. Akhtaruzzaman Mia and MP Ikramul Bari Tipu attended the meeting.
The meeting emphasised increasing the number of doctors, nurses and other staff by revising the organisational structure to improve the quality of services at the Parliament Secretariat Medical Centre.
A proposal was made to construct a 10-bed hospital to expand the scope and improve the quality of medical services at the centre.
The meeting also held detailed discussions on taking specific measures to make medical equipment more modern and suitable for contemporary needs.
Proposals were made to establish a modern physiotherapy centre and upgrade facilities for echocardiography (ECHO), electrocardiography (ECG), CT scans, OPG, RPG, an ambulance equipped with an ICU setup, and pathology machines.
The meeting recommended that the Parliament Secretariat send a letter to the Ministry of Finance through the relevant authorities seeking special funding for these initiatives.
To ensure advanced medical treatment for patients referred by the Parliament Secretariat Medical Centre, the meeting also proposed introducing memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with reputed hospitals in the vicinity.
Additional Secretary (Finance, Accounts and Public Relations) and other concerned officials of the Parliament Secretariat were present at the meeting.
