Prime Minister Tarique Rahman arrived in Mongla, Bagerhat, by helicopter on Thursday on a daylong official visit to oversee major port development initiatives and investment cooperation.

Earlier, the prime minister left his Gulshan residence in the capital for Tejgaon Airport at 8:45AM and departed for Mongla by helicopter at 9AM.

According to his itinerary, Tarique Rahman will lay the foundation stone of a Tk 4,068-crore project to construct two container jetties and develop associated infrastructure to expand and modernise Mongla Port.

During the visit, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on investment cooperation is also scheduled to be signed between Invest Bangladesh and China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC) in the presence of the Prime Minister.
