Terrorists reportedly hacked a young man to death in public in Ashulia near Dhaka on Saturday.
The murder took place in the evening in Unique area in front of Kazir Bar of Ashulia.
Police visited the scene after receiving information but were unable to arrest anyone involved in the murder.
The victim was Faisal Kabir, son of Abul Kalam Azad, hailed from Dharmadi Dakshinpara village under Nagarkanda Police Station in Faridpur district. He worked as an office assistant in the office of local transport businessman Mazharul Haque and used to live in a rented house in the Gazirchat area.
According to police, around 6:30 pm, a group of 8-9 unidentified assailants hacked Faisal with sharp knives in that area. Later, locals rescued Faisal in a critical condition and took to nearby Happy General Hospital. From there, he was taken to the Dhamrai Upazila Health Complex for advanced treatment where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
On information, Ashulia police reached the spot, examined the body and took it to the police station.
Ashulia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abu Bakar Siddique said, "There are multiple police teams at the scene. They are investigating the matter. The mystery of the murder will be solved very soon and the killers will be brought to justice."
