The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today announced that a mild cold wave is sweeping across the northern and north-western districts, starting this morning and expected to last for the next 24 hours.
Areas affected include Rajshahi, Pabna, Naogaon, Panchagarh, and Chuadanga, with the cold wave likely to spread further.
The BMD attributed the cold wave to the presence of a sub-continental high pressure ridge extending over West Bengal and western Bangladesh, while a seasonal low lies over South Bay.
Weather conditions are expected to remain dry with temporary cloudy skies, while moderate to dense fog may develop across various regions during the night.
Temperatures are expected to drop by 1-2°C at night and rise by 2-3°C during the day.
The maximum temperature recorded yesterday was 28.6°C at Teknaf, while the minimum temperature today was 9.1°C at Badalgachhi.
In the capital, Dhaka, the sunset today is at 5:29pm, and tomorrow’s sunrise will be at 6:43am.
