Shakira begins first global tour in seven years
  13, February, 2025, 11:23:41:AM

Shakira kicked off her first world tour in seven years with a spectacular show in Rio de Janeiro this week, celebrating her Grammy-winning album Las mujeres ya no lloran (Women Don`t Cry Anymore). Performing at the Nilton Santos Olympic Stadium, which has a capacity of 46,000, the Colombian singer treated fans to hit songs from her 12th album.

During the concert, Shakira shared an empowering message with the crowd: "Music heals," she said. "Loving somebody else is a very good thing, but it`s better to love oneself." She also performed Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53, a song that reflects her very public split from former footballer Gerard Pique in 2022.

Fans, like Juliana Modenesi, who traveled over 600 kilometers to see Shakira for the first time, praised her strength and reinvention after a challenging personal period. Shakira’s tour marks her first since 2018, and she showcased a mix of pop, reggaeton, salsa, and bachata during her two-and-a-half-hour set.

The show came shortly after Shakira won a Grammy for Best Latin Pop Album, which she dedicated to migrants in the U.S. facing deportation under former President Trump. She also performed iconic hits like Hips Don’t Lie, Chantaje, and Waka Waka, the anthem of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

With over 90 million records sold worldwide and four Grammy Awards, Shakira remains one of the most influential Latin artists. She will continue her tour, performing nearly 50 shows in Latin America through June, followed by dates in the United States and Canada.
