Two individuals died after being crushed by a train in Narsingdi Sadar Upazila on Monday.

The incident occurred at unguarded railway crossing in the Dagarhia area of Chinishpur union under Narsingdi Sadar upazila on Monday at 3:30 PM.

The deceased were identified as Aminul Islam Joj Mia, 48 and his wife Aklima Begum, 45, both residents of Gojaria village in Lebutola union under Monohardi upazila in the district.

According to locals, the couple were crossing the railway line in Dagarhia area on their motorcycle in the afternoon.

At one point of their crossing, a Chattogram-bound train named Chattala Express ran over them, crushed their motorcycle and killed them on the spot.

Later, locals informed the police.

Being informed by the locals, railway police reached the spot and recovered their body.

Narsingdi Railway Police outpost in-charge Md Zahirul Islam confirmed the incident and said that the bodies will be handed over to the deceased’s family after an autopsy.
