A Bangladeshi youth was killed by gunfire from the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at the Putia border in Bayek Union of Kasba Upazila, Brahmanbaria, on Friday evening.
The deceased, Md Al-Amin, 32, was the son of Sultan Mia from the village of Putia in the district.
Locals said that around 7:30 pm on Friday, the BSF fired rubber bullets at several Bangladeshis at the Putia border. Al-Amin was injured in the incident and was taken to the hospital by the BSF, where he later died around 9:00 pm. His body is currently being held at the BSF camp.
The Chairman of Bayek Union, Md Billal Hossain, confirmed that a Bangladeshi had been killed by BSF gunfire at the border, but the reason for the shooting remains unclear.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Chamimul Islam stated that the shooting occurred around 7:00 pm on Friday. "I heard that one person was shot and later taken by the BSF to the hospital, where he passed away. A flag meeting between the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and BSF is scheduled for today, which will help clarify the situation," he said.
