Former Australian cricketer David Warner is officially making his acting debut with a cameo in the Telugu film Robinhood, starring Nithiin and Sreeleela, directed by Venky Kudumula.

There`s no denying the fact that Australian cricketer David Warner is a huge admirer of Tollywood cinema. The 38-year-old batsman is often rumoured to be making his Telugu cameo and it seems he will indeed be featured in an upcoming film.

Producer Ravi Shankar of Mythri Movie Makers, who bankrolled Pushpa, confirmed Warner’s much-anticipated cameo during the pre-release event of GV Prakash’s upcoming film, Kingston, in Hyderabad.

During the event, which was attended by actor Nithiin and director Venky Kudumula, producer Ravi was asked to share an update on their upcoming project, Robinhood.

Clarifying the rumours, he said, “David Warner has made a cameo in the film, it’ll be exciting,” confirming the long-standing speculation.

Warner, a fan favourite in the Telugu states due to his association with SunRisers Hyderabad, has often expressed his admiration for Telugu cinema. His viral Instagram reels dancing to Allu Arjun’s songs from Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo and Pushpa further cemented his popularity.

Warner reportedly shot for his cameo in September 2024 during the film’s Australia schedule. Reports did the rounds back then when he followed Nithiin and Venky Kudumula on Instagram. While his entry into Telugu films had often been speculated, the producer officially confirmed it at the Kingston event.

GV Prakash Kumar’s Kingston is a tale of a fisherman who dares to challenge the mysterious forces that prevent villagers from venturing into the sea. The film, made on a grand scale, is gearing up for a grand release on March 7.

Meanwhile, Robinhood, initially slated for release on December 25, faced an unexpected delay but is now set for a grand theatrical release on March 28. The film features Sreeleela as the female lead and has music composed by GV Prakash Kumar. Apart from Robinhood, Nithiin is also working on Thammudu, directed by Venu Sriram.
