A man was killed after being struck by an out-of-control motorcycle at Gafargaon upazila in Mymensingh district.
The incident occurred early Saturday at Panchpair village under Gafargaon union in the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Sattar Majhi, 45, son of Suruj Mia from Panchpair village under Gafargaon union in the upazila. The motorcyclist, Rifat, 20, son of Badal Mia from Dugachia village, was seriously injured.
It is reported that Sattar was sitting at a tea stall along the Gafargaon to Panchbagh road at Panchpair village at around 1 AM. At that moment, a motorcycle lost control and struck him at high speed, throwing him about 20 meters away.
Locals rescued both Sattar and the motorcyclist, Rifat, who were severely injured, and took them to Upazila Health Complex. As their condition worsened, both were transferred to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital.
At around 2:30 AM, doctors declared Sattar Majhi dead.
Gafargaon Police Station officer in-Charge (OC) Shibirul Islam confirmed the death and said that the motorcycle involved in the accident had been seized.
