New world must be built, Prof Yunus tells CMG
  5, April, 2025, 11:03:46:PM

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has said a new world must be built applying the framework of new thoughts.

"No matter how much we try to drag out the old world, this effort will not work," he said in an interview with China Media Group (CMG) in Beijing during his recent visit to China.

Rather, the Chief Adviser said, the new world should be created by building a new thinking framework in the light of the structure and theory required for the beautiful new world.

About the cooperation of China, he said China is ready to cooperate with and support Bangladesh, reports BSS.

Referring to the ongoing reform agenda of his interim government, Prof Yunus said Bangladesh needs major reforms while it gets great support from the Chinese government, Chinese businessmen and its people to this end.

"This support is very necessary. It is also a joy," he said, adding overall his recent visit to China has been beautiful and successful.

Prof Yunus recalled that he saw the poverty among rural women in China during his visit to China almost a decade ago.

He said the nature of poverty is the same everywhere in the world.

The way of defeating poverty is to recognise the creativity of people and support them institutionally, he added.

The Bangladesh chief adviser said the society should support people in doing their jobs so that they can move forward.

About microcredit, he said this money is a power for them, and it is possible to change their lives by using this power.

Regarding the similarity between his `Three Zero Theory` and President Xi Jinping`s new-style modernisation theory, Prof Yunus said, "The issues are the same. There are many similarities, which we are trying to express in different ways."

Replying to a question about Dhaka-Beijing relations, the Chief Adviser said he had successful talks with President Xi.

Noting that Bangladesh needs help and support in present circumstances, he said China is interested in it and President Xi will try to deliver it to Bangladesh in a timely manner.

Prof Yunus said there is a possibility of progress in economy and trade.

"Today, there was a preliminary discussion with everyone. To explore the opportunities that have been created in Bangladesh, Chinese investors and businessmen will come to Bangladesh, and they will observe what can be done new," he said.

The Chief Adviser said: "We have found many friends in China. We will utilise this friendship to build a new Bangladesh."

On the 50th anniversary of the Bangladesh-China relations, the interim government of Bangladesh will try to deepen these relations, he said.

He said the purpose of his visit to China was to strengthen the relationship and that is why he met the head of state and various professional leaders.

Prof Yunus said China assured him that it would support Bangladesh in any situation.

Professor Du of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences was present with during the interview.

Prof Du is working on a microcredit project to improve the standard of life of rural women in China.
