A tragic bus accident has occurred in Bhubaneswar, Odisha state, India, involving a bus carrying over 70 Bangladeshi tourists.
The accident took place in the North Chaka area of Bhubaneswar on Sunday morning (April 6). One person has been reported dead and 15 others have sustained serious injuries.
The identity of the deceased individual has not yet been confirmed. The injured have been taken to Capital Hospital for treatment.
According to sources, the bus was carrying more than 70 Bangladeshi tourists who were en route to Puri. Prior to this, the tourists had visited the Kashi Vishwanath Temple.
Local news outlet Odisha TV reported that the majority of the passengers on the bus were Bangladeshi nationals. They also stated that the Bangladeshi tourists involved in the accident had come via ISKCON Mayapur in West Bengal.
Upon receiving news of the accident, police and fire service personnel rushed to the scene and initiated rescue operations.
Initial reports suggest that the bus lost control near North Chaka, leading to the accident where it overturned. Doctors have stated that the condition of some of the injured passengers is critical. Further investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.
