The National Citizens Party (NCP) has issued a show-cause notice and temporarily relieved its Joint Member Secretary Gazi Salauddin Tanvir of all party responsibilities amid allegations of misconduct.
The development was confirmed in a letter signed by Saleh Uddin Sifat, Joint Member Secretary (Office) of the NCP, dated Monday (April 21).
According to the letter, a report published in the national daily Inqilab on March 11 accused Tanvir of unlawfully interfering in the appointment process of a Deputy Commissioner and engaging in commission-based dealings in the procurement of printing paper for textbooks under the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB).
In response, NCP Convener Md. Nahid Islam and Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain have instructed Tanvir to submit a written explanation to the head of the party’s Central Disciplinary Committee within seven days. He has also been asked to explain why he should not be permanently expelled from the party.
The letter further states that Tanvir has been temporarily relieved of all organizational duties due to his failure to comply with previous verbal warnings to maintain party discipline. This decision will remain in effect until the disciplinary committee submits its final report.
A copy of the notice has been forwarded to the NCP convener, member secretary, and the head of the disciplinary committee for necessary action.
