The Election Commission is working tirelessly in preparation for the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election. The voter registration update process is ongoing nationwide.
In this current drive, the information of over 6.3 million new citizens has been added to the voter list. Simultaneously, the names of more than 2.3 million deceased voters have been removed from the list.
This information was recently revealed in a voter registration update report signed by Md. Abdul Momin Sarker, Director of the National Identity Registration (NID) Wing of the Election Commission (EC).
The report states that the data of 6,317,600 new voters has been collected so far. Among them, 2,961,057 are male, 3,356,250 are female, and 294 are third-gender voters. Out of these, 6,176,838 individuals have completed registration with photographs and fingerprints.
Meanwhile, the names of 2,327,117 deceased individuals have been removed from the voter list. This includes 1,404,072 males, 922,781 females, and 326 third-gender individuals.
According to the latest update, the total number of voters in the country currently stands at 123,732,274. The final voter list is expected to be published in June after the voter registration update is completed.
