The Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami organized a protest rally in Dhaka on Thursday (18 September) calling for the introduction of the Proportional Representation (PR) system in the upcoming parliamentary election, along with four other public demands.Traditional clothing
The event was arranged by the party’s Dhaka North and South city branches.
The rally started at 5:30 PM from the south gate of Baitul Mukarram Mosque and concluded at Shahbagh, led by Assistant Secretary General Rafiqul Islam Khan and Hamidur Rahman Azad.
Thousands of activists participated, chanting slogans such as “PR and reforms are needed now,” “Hold elections under PR system,” “Give what is due,” and “Unite the Jamaat-Shibir supporters.”
Earlier, a gathering was held at the mosque’s south gate, where leaders from the central and city branches addressed the participants.
