Speaking via video message at an event hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka on Wednesday night, Professor Yunus marked the 76th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China and the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh-China diplomatic relations.

He expressed gratitude for China’s long-standing support and praised the Chinese Communist Party’s achievements in economic development, technological innovation, poverty reduction, and public service. Yunus described China as Bangladesh’s closest friend and most reliable partner.

Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen highlighted that 2025 also marks the 80th anniversary of the United Nations. He recalled China’s contributions to global peace, its transformation into a major power, and its remarkable success in eradicating extreme poverty. Yao emphasized China’s role as a force for global stability and progress and praised President Xi Jinping’s Global Governance Initiative, which enjoys broad international support, including from Bangladesh.

Celebrating the golden jubilee of bilateral relations, Yao said the partnership is grounded in mutual respect, strategic autonomy, and equal cooperation. He reaffirmed China’s readiness to support Bangladesh’s modernization and build a future China-Bangladesh community.

The event’s chief guest, Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, highlighted China’s contributions to infrastructure, education, science and technology, and healthcare in Bangladesh.Traditional clothing
