| Kamrul Hasan : More than 7,000 Hajj pilgrims have arrived in Saudi Arabia on Hajj flights.
As of 10:00 AM on Sunday (April 19), a total of 7,634 Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims had reached Saudi Arabia on 19 flights for performing the holy Hajj. The information was confirmed in a report published from the Ashkona Hajj Office on Sunday.
According to the report, out of the total 19 flights departed from Bangladesh, 8 flights of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carried 3,309 pilgrims to Saudi Arabia. In addition, 7 flights of Saudia Airlines transported 2,716 pilgrims, while 4 flights of Flynas safely carried 1,609 pilgrims to their destination.
This year, a total of 78,500 pilgrims from Bangladesh will travel to Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj under both government and private management. Among them, 8,565 are under government management and 73,935 under private management.
A total of 630 agencies are responsible for Hajj operations under private management this year, including 30 lead agencies and the remaining 600 acting as coordinating agencies.
For transporting pilgrims, 100 flights of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, 75 flights of Saudia Airlines, and 30 flights of Flynas have been scheduled. The last flight to Saudi Arabia will operate on May 21.
The holy Hajj is expected to take place on May 26, subject to moon sighting. It is noted that the Hajj flight operations for this year were officially inaugurated at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Friday night by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
