  30, April, 2026, 12:21:31:PM

The body of Jamil Ahmed Limon, a Bangladeshi student at the University of South Florida (USF) who was murdered in the United States, will arrive in Dhaka on Monday (May 4). Prior to this, police handed over his body to funeral authorities on Tuesday local time.

Press Minister of the Bangladesh Embassy in Washington, Golam Mortoza, said that the first funeral prayer (Namaz-e-Janaza) of the deceased will be held on Thursday (April 30) at the Islamic Society in the Tampa Bay area, local time. His body will arrive in Dhaka at 8:40 am on Monday (May 4). However, no further information has been found regarding Nahida Sultana Bristi, who was also a student at the university and was killed in the same incident.

The Bangladesh Embassy in Washington said that police handed over Jamil’s body to funeral authorities in Tampa on Tuesday local time. The decision to transfer the body to the funeral authorities was made in coordination with the Bangladesh Consulate in Miami, the Bangladeshi community, and the University of South Florida. Prior to the handover, the Bangladesh Consulate in Miami obtained consent from Jamil’s family. All subsequent procedures will be carried out according to Islamic rites.

Two Bangladeshi PhD students at the University of South Florida, Limon and Bristi, were tragically killed. Following their disappearance on April 16, which raised concern and mystery, the recovery of Limon’s body and the arrest of his roommate, Hisham Abugharbieh, have revealed disturbing details about the incident. According to court documents and police statements, the murder was extremely brutal and premeditated.
