| Kamrul Hasan : In a move aimed at enhancing technological capabilities and modernizing safety systems in Bangladesh’s aviation sector, Germany’s renowned technology company Aerodata has expressed its interest in providing airport calibration services. The initiative is being viewed as a new avenue for strengthening cooperation and expanding opportunities in the aviation sector between the two countries.
On Sunday morning (April 19), the German Ambassador to Bangladesh, Dr. Rüdiger Lotz, paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism, Afroza Khanam MP, at the Bangladesh Secretariat in the capital. During the meeting, he formally conveyed Aerodata’s interest in offering airport calibration services in Bangladesh.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, the meeting featured in-depth discussions on strengthening bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Germany, as well as advancing various aspects of development, modernization, and capacity enhancement in the aviation sector.
The meeting was attended by State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism, M. Rashiduzzaman Millat, MP. Both sides emphasized expanding mutual cooperation in areas such as technology transfer, technical assistance, and infrastructure development within the aviation sector.
Ambassador Dr. Rüdiger Lotz stated that Germany has long been a development partner of Bangladesh and remains committed to continuing close cooperation with the present government. He further noted that if an internationally reputed organization like Aerodata provides airport calibration services in Bangladesh, it would significantly enhance the country’s aviation navigation and safety systems.
In response, Civil Aviation Minister Afroza Khanam MP said that the current government is working tirelessly to elevate the country’s aviation sector to international standards. She emphasized that improved transparency, safety, and efficiency in airport management can be achieved through modern technology and technical expertise. She also expressed that Germany’s cooperation would play a vital role in this regard.
Analysts believe that the interest of a world-class organization like Aerodata could open new opportunities for technological advancement in Bangladesh’s aviation sector. In particular, the introduction of calibration services is expected to enhance flight safety, ensure precise navigation systems, and help Bangladesh align more closely with international standards.
This courtesy meeting is being viewed as a significant step forward not only in strengthening diplomatic relations between the two countries but also in advancing sustainable development and modernization in the aviation sector.
