| Kamrul Hasan: State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Afroza Khanam Rita, MP, has said that Biman Bangladesh Airlines can be transformed into a more profitable and passenger-friendly organization through the adoption of realistic and timely measures.
She made the remarks while chairing a meeting on the procurement of Boeing aircraft at the conference room of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism on Wednesday (April 22) morning. The minister stated that it is অত্যন্ত essential to formulate an integrated plan based on route-wise revenue analysis before adding any new aircraft to the fleet. This, she noted, would ensure the proper utilization of investment.
She emphasized expediting the necessary procedures for the inclusion of Boeing aircraft and instructed the সংশ্লিষ্ট authorities to continue their efforts in this regard.
Additionally, the minister provided directives to take necessary preparations for resuming flight operations on the Dhaka–Narita route.
She also stressed ensuring timely supply processes and called upon all concerned to work in a coordinated manner to include new aircraft in the fleet within the tenure of the current government.
The meeting also reviewed the long-term fleet expansion plan of Biman. Discussions were held on implementing a roadmap to increase the fleet size to 47 aircraft by the fiscal year 2034–35, including the addition of Boeing aircraft. উদ্যোগগুলো taken during the previous government’s tenure were also reviewed.
Among others, State Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat, MP, Secretary of the ministry Fahmida Akhtar (NDC), the Managing Director of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, and senior officials from the ministry and সংশ্লিষ্ট agencies were present at the meeting.
