Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain has said that the prevalence of measles among children is increasing due to malnutrition, though the situation is gradually coming under control through collective efforts.
While speaking at a seminar at the National Burn Institute on Thursday, the minister emphasized the importance of nutrition in nation-building, stating, ``Nutrition Week is very important for building a healthy nation.``
He noted that many children are increasingly avoiding nutritious home-cooked meals in favor of fast food, underscoring the need for regular counseling to promote healthy eating habits.
Highlighting the benefits of breastfeeding, Sakhawat Husain said, ``There is no alternative to mother`s milk in building a child`s body. The foundation it creates in our bodies continues to benefit us for many years. The nutritional impact of breast milk never diminishes.``
He reiterated the government’s focus on improving child nutrition and raising awareness to ensure healthier future generations.
