| International Desk: A special launch event for the broadcast of Chinese documentary productions, including Xi Jinping’s Cultural Affinity, was held in Vientiane on Tuesday under the joint auspices of China Media Group (CMG) and the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP).
To mark the occasion, Lao President and General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, Thongloun Sisoulith, sent a congratulatory message praising the initiative.
In his message, President Thongloun said that Xi Jinping’s Cultural Affinity highlights the wisdom of Chinese philosophical thought, President Xi Jinping’s commitment to preserving cultural heritage, his visionary approach to national governance, and his profound patriotic sentiments. The documentary, he noted, reflects President Xi’s enduring dedication to Chinese civilization and history and serves as a vivid illustration of China’s pursuit of national rejuvenation. He added that the film offers valuable insights and experiences for Laos in preserving its distinctive national culture, advancing socio-economic development, and promoting socialist nation-building.
Shen Haixiong, Vice Minister of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and President of China Media Group, delivered a video address at the event. Also attending and speaking at the ceremony were Vansy Kouamoua, Deputy Head of the Publicity Department of the LPRP Central Committee, and Wang Chang, Chargé d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Laos.
In his remarks, Shen noted that this year marks the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Laos as well as the “China-Laos Friendship Year.” Under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries, bilateral relations have continued to achieve remarkable progress.
He said that Xi Jinping’s Cultural Affinity, together with two other documentary productions, presents President Xi’s deep reflections on the inheritance and development of Chinese civilization. The documentaries offer Lao audiences a valuable window into Xi Jinping Thought on Governance and provide a deeper understanding of Chinese culture, wisdom, and spirit.
For his part, Vansy Kouamoua said that the broadcast of the Chinese documentaries provides the Lao people with an important opportunity to learn more about Chinese culture and China’s development achievements. He noted that the productions help audiences better understand President Xi Jinping’s governance philosophy, cultural vision, and Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.
He further described the documentaries as a valuable reference for Laos’ own socialist development and reform efforts. Expressing a desire to deepen cooperation with China Media Group, he said the Publicity Department of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party looks forward to working together to foster a positive media environment that supports the building of a China-Laos community with a shared future.
Beginning June 1, three CMG-produced documentaries—Xi Jinping’s Cultural Affinity, Navigating, and Classics and New Ideas—have been broadcast by major Lao media outlets, including Lao National Television, Lao People’s Daily, and the Lao News Agency.
